Model United Nations (MUN)
This term, I was in the MUN club (Model United Nations). This term, we mainly focused on Syria. I was introduced to many new things such as drafting position papers, resolution papers and gaining skills such as debating. We were divided into groups and given different countries that we had to represent, then we wrote the different papers as those countries. My country was Syria, it was quite challenging in the way that I had to write the papers as if I was Syria and sometimes I did not agree with what their stance was on some matters but I had to put that aside and try my best to convince others that their view was the best one. That part was challenging but it was really interesting at the same time. Going into MUN club, I had very little knowledge on the Syria issue, now that it has finished, I feel as though I have learned a lot about it and I feel comfortable discussing it, therefore I feel as though I engaged with issues of global importance. Overall, I enjoyed being a part of MUN club, I've always had an interest in international relations and I feel as though MUN has given me a better outlook of what it is all about. The only thing that I wish was different is that I wish we did more debating as those sessions were really interesting but on the whole I enjoyed it.
